Finding Balance: Writing, Family, and Self-Care
Share
Being a writer doesn’t mean I spend all day in front of a notebook or laptop. Most days, I’m juggling a thousand different roles wife, mother, dreamer, creator and still trying to make space for myself.
What I’ve learned is that balance doesn’t look like perfection. Balance looks like stealing 20 quiet minutes for yoga while my girls are occupied. It looks like sipping tea with my journal open, even if I only write a few lines before life calls me back. It even looks like honoring small rituals, like my skincare routine at night, because those tiny moments remind me that I matter too.
Writing is my calling, but it’s also a reflection of my life. When I take care of myself, the words flow better. When I give myself grace, I create more freely. And when I make peace with the chaos, I find beauty in it and that beauty often ends up in my books.
I’m reminding myself (and maybe you, too): Balance isn’t about doing everything at once. It’s about honoring the pieces of yourself that need care, one small ritual at a time. 🌙
✨ How do you find balance in your own life? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. And if you’d like to see how these themes of healing and self-discovery show up in my writing, you can explore my poetry book She: Forgiveness.
